Sticking With It

I've been rocking.

So far, about 30 pages of the secret one shot have been sketched, and I'm pretty satisfied with the story thus far. Subway Creatures chapter 2 sketches have been completed, and I've started to ink them. Things have been going well.

I won't lie - I've had a few dark moments where I questioned "Is this worth it? Why am I putting in this effort?" I even fell into comparison mode when I looked at RAZR (which isn't drawn by me) and started asking "Why am I not as good as this?". It was pretty bad. However, I think those valleys are just a part of the creative process. There will be days you don't feel worthy...days you feel your work isn't good. It's just a part of it all.

I think something that made me realize this, was the fact that even after those dark moments, the following day, I went back to drawing. There was not a mis-step, or a day skipped. I just kept on working...sticking with it, even with my doubts. Maybe that's the key...sticking with it, even when unsure - even when you don't feel like you're good enough - even when you can't see the finish line or know what the purpose of it all is.

After all, I'll eventually have a finished project if I keep chipping away at it - no?

Updates

As stated above, I've just been completing sketches for both the one shot and Subway Creatures. I also want to try doing a quick 4 page story - that stars SNORLAX with a big sword. Hopefully if all goes well, I'll have something to show from this by the next update!

Until next time

Yeah - so final words for this blog post are "stick with it- even though you can't see the finish line". As long as you don't quit, you'll have a finished project...eventually!

Stay creative!
